With its relaxed Nautical decor, warm wood panelling and charming decorative features, Waterways encourages you to relax, unwind and make yourself comfortable – your Home away from home.
Conveniently situated on the R43 between Hermanus and Stanford, and set in 30 acres of private grounds, you can choose to take a break from civilization or head out to explore your surroundings.
Relax, unwind, and reconnect with friends, family and nature
Waterways is washed with the almost palpable positivity of childhood laughter, nostalgic summer holidays, and special family celebrations. Built in the 1950s by grandfather Mac, the property has a strong nautical charm and history. The bell on the balcony was used to sound out the start of yacht races when the house was the only other dwelling on the lagoon apart from the yacht club. The flag pole on the lawn was used to fly flags that signalled both laps and the end of the race – as well as the family crest. Until this day, Waterways has remained a precious jewel in the family crown.
Although grandfather Mac made a living in construction, today, some of his plumbing may rattle and shake a bit when showering in one of the large power showers or flushing one of the fourteen lavatories on the property. Although we have installed Wi-Fi for your convenience, we encourage you to pay more attention to your friends and family than your devices. And although there are three TVs for you to watch, none of them are as large as the window out onto the constantly changing backdrop of the lagoon that migrates from mirror-still to white-horse windswept in a matter of minutes.
Our philosophy is one of returning to an era when we were less concerned with the latest Facebook post and more interested in communicating face to face. Situated in thirty acres of natural Fynbos, Waterways the perfect place to reconnect with yourself, your family, and nature with no interruptions from the outside world. If you prefer all the latest mod cons and the excitement of city life, then we suggest you reconsider. But if, like us, you yearn to slow down the hands of time, then we’re convinced that you’ll love the property and its magical location just as much as we do.
Our week's stay at Waterways was truly memorable! The house was perfect for a group of friends and their children, the gardens a wonderful place for games, braais and exploration, and the pool deliciously inviting in the heat-wave. The rooms and bathrooms were all lovely and the kitchen very well-equipped...
We had an absolutely amazing weekend at Waterways with some old friends and their families. This place is big enough to have privacy and have enough social areas to keep different groups entertained. It was raining, but we had a fire going all weekend and never felt locked in...
Really good layout of rooms and spaces for larger family getting together.
This is a great spot for big groups. We loved that we all had our private sleeping areas and communal chill and eating areas. Not many places have so much space for big groups. The braai facilities are superb and the space easily accommodated a very big group.
This place is a real gem of a find! The house is large with lots of living space, each bedroom/combo has its own bathroom and there is adequate space in between the various bedrooms which makes it perfect for a group of families who want to be together ...
Fantastic location on the lagoon with beautiful views. The house was very spacious and well equipped. Lots of space for 12 people to relax and enjoy the environment. Dave the manager, was very friendly and informative - always ready to assist.
This was our 2nd visit and this will certainly not be our last. It's honestly is a piece of heaven. It has everything you could ask of a weekend or holiday escape from the bustle of the city. I highly recommend this to family's and friends looking to share a weekend away together.
Incredible host and just an amaaazing home! Definitely one of the best weekends in Hermanus!
The location was absolutely incredible and the facilities were excellent! The property manager Dave was very friendly and helpful, he gave us lots of great recommendations for things to do in the surrounding area. We loved the privacy of having separate cabins for everyone to stay in.
