With its relaxed Nautical decor, warm wood panelling and charming decorative features, Waterways encourages you to relax, unwind, and make yourself comfortable.

Located between Hermanus (10 mins) and Stanford (15 mins), Waterways offers plenty of restaurants and activities. But set in 30 acres of private grounds, you may choose to stay home.

Positioned between the mountain and the lagoon, Waterways is the perfect place to enjoy quality time with friends and family. Grotto beach and the scenic cliff path are a 5-min drive.
Relax, unwind, and reconnect with friends, family and nature
Waterways is a large family holiday home with separate cottages. As it's such a large property to turnover, we have a strict two-night minimum stay policy.
Waterways accommodates 14 people in 7 bedrooms. Most bedrooms feature two single beds that can be made up as a king. Two bedrooms have queen-size beds.
The rates shown are for 14 guests. An extra two people can be pre-arranged at an additional cost of R1,000 per person per night.
Renewable energy powers the whole complex except for the hot-water cylinders and the ovens. However, we have two BBQ's and a gas hob for cooking in case of loadshedding.
Dave, the property manager, will be there to meet you on arrival and show you everything you need to know. Please call him in advance to arrange your arrival time.
A cleaning service is available at an additional R120 per hour.
Waterways is the perfect place for weekend escapes, family holidays, and special celebrations. Built in 1950 by grandfather Mac, a building contractor by trade, the house is filled with nautical charm and nostalgic history. The bell on the balcony used to start yacht races when the house was the only other dwelling on the lagoon apart from the yacht club. The flag pole on the lawn flew flags to signal laps and the end of the race. Today it flies the family crest and Waterways remains in the proud possession of the McCarthy family.
The house offers several indoor and outdoor entertainment areas, making it suitable for large groups. The beds are comfortable, there’s plenty of space to unpack, and the showers are large and powerful. But if you’re into slick interiors and modcons, then it may not be the place for you. Our philosophy is one of returning to an era where we were less distracted by our devices and more connected to nature, friends and family. If you’re looking to have a break from your daily routine and reconnect, then we’re convinced that you’ll love the magic of Waterways just as much as we do.
Waterways offers activities for every season: In the summer months, you can enjoy the large swimming pool, the outdoor braais and the nearby beach. In spring, the gardens are in full bloom and Southern Right Whales can be spotted in breaching the bay. In winter, you can light a fire in the cosy living area, cook together in the large kitchen, and enjoy boardgames with friends and family.
